Six grants available for young aspiring football stars in NSW

15 February 2024: McDonald’s has partnered with Sydney FC, Western Sydney Wanderers and Central Coast Mariners to launch its NSW Community Grants program for 2024, aimed at supporting young aspiring football stars across NSW.

There are six grants available for NSW based football players aged between 14 – 18 years old, who will each receive $2,500 in development funding, an exclusive money can’t buy experience with one of the football clubs and an interview opportunity for a role at their local Macca’s*.

The development funding is designed to cover sporting club registration fees, equipment and sporting lessons, helping young football players continue to work on their skills and chase their dreams.

The grant also includes an exclusive money can’t buy experience with either Sydney FC, Western Sydney Wanderers or Central Coast Mariners, including behind the scenes stadium tours, player meet and greets, tickets to game days and training opportunities.

“The NSW Community Grants program is aimed at young football stars across the State who dream of being a professional athlete and pursuing a career in football.

“Through partnering with Sydney FC, Western Sydney Wanderes and Central Coast Mariners, we are able to offer six young football stars across New South Wales the opportunity to score $2,500 in funding and an exclusive money can’t buy experience.

“This is an incredible prize for a young aspiring athlete with big dreams and we can’t wait to see the positive impact it has on their future sporting career.”

Applications are open from now until 11.59pm (AEST) on Sunday, 31 March 2024. To apply, parents or guardians need to submit an application here outlining how the recipient embodies the values of commitment, team spirit, respect for others and support for their community.

Macca’s has teamed up with elite NSW sporting clubs to support young athletes with big ambitions, through their Community Grants program. Young applicants aged 14-18 could score $2,500 in development funding, access to professional athlete mentoring, and an interview opportunity for the role of crew member at Macca’s restaurant.*
