Nichole Tsiros, Senior Brand Manager for McDonald’s Australia, said: “We’re so excited to collaborate with Illumination’s Despicable Me franchise for what is certain to be one of the biggest blockbuster movies of the year. Since they first appeared in 2010’s Despicable Me, the Minions have become global icons, infiltrating pop culture in a meaningful way.

“Like the Minions themselves, our Happy Meals are playful and nostalgic with inter-generational appeal. With our Despicable Me 4 Happy Meal, we’re taking that fun, feel-good experience to the next level by offering moments of connection for the entire family, with a range of menu items for the small and big kids.

“The Minions are taking over, but not for long, so head into your nearest Macca’s before they’re gone!”

Bananas for the whole family

For the big kids, the Minions’ favourite flavour is taking a prime spot on the Macca’s dessert menu, with three sweet treats: the Banana Thickshake, Banana Caramel Pie, and Banana Caramel McFlurry available with Vanilla or Chocolate Soft Serve.

The fan favourite Banana Thickshake is back by popular demand and is an impossibly thick and incredibly delicious shake that is made with creamy, fresh milk and banana-flavoured syrup.

Making a return since it last appeared on menus in 2020 is the Banana Caramel Pie. Featuring crisp, golden pastry filled with creamy banana custard and delicious caramel sauce it is the ultimate winter warmer.

The already delicious Banana Caramel Pie is made even better as a McFlurry. Introducing the Banana Caramel McFlurry – crisp pastry pieces filled with a creamy banana custard and caramel sauce on a bed of Vanilla or Chocolate Soft Serve, topped with an extra drizzle of caramel sauce.

For the kids, the Minions will take over the Macca’s Happy Meal for a limited time.

As part of the Despicable Me 4  Happy Meal, customers will have the choice of an exciting activity book with glimpses into the new movie or a toy. There are 12 limited edition Mix and Match Minion toys up for grabs, giving kids the chance to build and interact with their favourite Minion.

In the first Despicable Me movie in seven years, Gru, the world’s favorite supervillain-turned-Anti-Villain League-agent, returns for an exciting, bold new era of Minions mayhem in Illumination’s Despicable Me 4

Following the 2022 blockbuster phenomenon of Illumination’s Minions: The Rise of Gru, which earned almost $1 billion worldwide, the biggest global animated franchise in history now begins a new chapter as Gru (Oscar® nominee Steve Carrell) and Lucy (Oscar® nominee Kristen Wiig) and their girls—Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier) and Agnes (Madison Polan)—welcome a new member to the Gru family, Gru Jr., who is intent on tormenting his dad.

Gru faces a new nemesis in Maxime Le Mal (Emmy winner Will Ferrell) and his femme fatale girlfriend Valentina (Emmy nominee Sofia Vergara), and the family is forced to go on the run.

The film features fresh new characters voiced by Joey King (Bullet Train), Emmy winner Stephen Colbert (The Late Show with Stephen Colbert) and Chloe Fineman (Saturday Night Live). Pierre Coffin returns as the iconic voice of the Minions and Oscar® nominee Steve Coogan returns as Silas Ramsbottom.

Packed with non-stop action and filled with Illumination’s signature subversive humor, Despicable Me 4 is directed by a co-creator of the Minions, Oscar® nominee Chris Renaud (Despicable Me, The Secret Life of Pets), and is produced by Illumination’s visionary founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and by Brett Hoffman (executive producer, The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Minions: The Rise of Gru). The film is co-directed by Patrick Delage (animation director Sing 2 and The Secret Life of Pets 2), and the screenplay is by the Emmy winning creator of White Lotus, Mike White, and the veteran writer of every Despicable Me film, Ken Daurio.
