Maccas is giving customers FREE Fries and a Coke with the Big Mac Chant Challenge

17 April 2024

All you have to do is prove you’re a true Big Mac fan!

17 April 2024: Hold onto your cassette players because Macca’s is bringing back the nostalgic Big Mac jingle from the 1970s, with a tasty offer on the side.

Reimagined with a modern spin, the famous burger tune is back as part of the Big Mac Chant Challenge, celebrating the globally loved iconic burger.

From 17 April to 7 May, the challenge will test customers to say the Big Mac Chant - ‘Two-all- beef-patties-Special-Sauce-lettuce-cheese-pickles-onions-on a sesame seed bun’ - in four seconds or less, to bag themselves free small Fries and a Coke with the purchase of a Mac Jr., Big Mac, Double Big Mac or Grand Big Mac. Customers can use the Big Mac Chant video filter on Snapchat or via audio recording on the MyMacca’s app.

Samantha McLeod, Marketing Director for McDonald’s Australia said, “Australia, warm up those vocal cords and prepare to have a new song stuck in your head because the Big Mac Chant is back with a bang.

“The Big Mac is a global icon and one of our most popular menu items, so it only felt right we celebrate its rich heritage with old and new generations of Big Mac fans, while creating even more feel-good moments for our customers.

“It’s harder to say than it is to eat, but the faster you say it, the faster you win, so the only question is: can you say the Big Mac chant in four seconds?”

The Big Mac originally received its own signature song about its seven iconic ingredients in 1974, quickly entering the Aussie vernacular. As part of its relaunch, it has been reimagined for today to celebrate everything fans love about the iconic burger, while paying homage to its legacy and proving that the Big Mac is truly ‘The Original Mouthful’ – because the chant, much like the burger, is a mouthful.

The launch of the Big Mac Chant Challenge follows the return of the Mac Family (Mac Jr. and Grand Big Mac featuring 100% Aussie beef, lettuce and cucumbers for pickles) with the addition of Onion Rings served with Special Sauce, which are now available in Macca’s restaurants nationwide, for a limited time only.

About the Big Mac

The Big Mac launched in 1968 and has stood the test of time with a one-of-a-kind irreplicable taste. From 1986, the Big Mac became so globally recognisable, spanning countries and cultures across the world, that The Economist created the Big Mac Index to measure currency exchange rates.

McDonald’s Australia has sold over 1.2 billion Big Macs across 55 years (Source: McDonald’s Australia, June 2023)– enough Big Macs to circle the earth three times, with nearly three million customers purchasing a Big Mac every month (Source: Nielsen Clear Decisions, September 2023). It’s a globally recognised taste, no matter which Macca’s, Micky D’s or McDo customers visit.
