Meet one of the farmers behind Macca’s world-renowned beef burgers

24 April 2025

No one does beef better than Australia: that’s the message from one of the proud farmers who has been supplying beef to Macca’s for two and a half decades.

Meet Edward Proudford, a cattle farmer from Narrawa, New South Wales who, together with his family, has been working hard to supply the great quality beef for your Macca’s favourites, for 25 years.

“We’re an Aussie family providing 100% Aussie beef to Macca’s customers.”

“We produce so much beef in here in Australia, and no one in the world does it better,” he said.

“You can be guaranteed it is all locally grown beef.”

So, the next time you bite into one of our world-famous burgers, whether it be the iconic Big Mac, the fan-favourite Cheeseburger, or our brand-new Tennessee BBQ Burger, know that you’re experiencing the great taste and quality that comes from 100% Aussie beef and ingredients, sourced from thousands of farmers and producers like Edward.

In fact, more than 90% of the produce, products and ingredients in your Macca’s menu favourites are grown right here in our backyard, meaning that every bite at every restaurant is something our customers can enjoy and feel good about eating.

Many of our farmers and producers have been with us for decades, growing their own businesses right alongside Macca’s.

“Beef production in Australia is huge, and having a consistent market like Macca’s is exactly what this industry needs,” said Edward.

“With the dry times in southern New South Wales, it is reassuring to know that constant markets like Macca’s are there to support us and the wider industry,” he said.

In 2023, Macca’s purchased more than 300 million kilograms of Aussie produce, investing more than $900 million into local produce, products and ingredients.
