A message from our CEO to our Customers

Monday, 16th March

For nearly 50 years, the health and safety of our employees and customers has been our priority.

In these uncertain times, our commitment to you hasn’t changed.  We are taking every step to ensure our employees and customers are safe.

This is a challenging time, but as a community, we can work together to get through it.  McDonald’s contribution as a leading employer of youth, and a huge supporter of local farmers through our purchase of over 93% of what we sell, also comes with a responsibility to play a positive part in response to this challenge.

Health and Safety

Every day we are following strict cleaning, quality control and hygiene procedures in each of our restaurants.  We’ve increased the cleaning and sanitising of all contact surfaces including our kiosks, tabletops, benches, door handles and floors.

Our crew are regularly washing their hands with anti-microbial hand wash, and as always, wearing gloves as they prepare your meal.  The same hand wash is available for our customers to use to wash their hands in our customer bathrooms.

We are continuing to work closely with all relevant authorities and are strictly following the guidance provided by the Australian Government Department of Health and relevant State Departments of Health.

Contactless Flexibility

In the current circumstances we understand many customers will want to limit the amount of time they come into close contact with others.  We have immediately implemented changes to assist.

To ensure you have the flexibility to suit your needs, we’re introducing new contactless options to our In-restaurant, Drive-Thru and McDelivery services.  These procedures will minimise customer and employee contact to further improve the safety of our restaurants.

In restaurant this means our McDonald’s crew person will place the bag on the counter shelf for you to pick up, rather than directly handing it to you. You can also use the MyMaccas App to order and pay.   Our Delivery partners are ready to deliver our food via a contactless experience, if you so choose.

Looking Ahead

Our leadership team is meeting daily to assess the situation and ensure our people are safe and supported.  I continue to stay close to our restaurants and franchisees, whom directly operate our restaurants, and know we have the right people in the right roles to meet our customers’ needs.  In times like these, we take advantage of the global McDonald’s system to learn and benefit from the events occurring overseas. Each day, we continue to access and implement all necessary changes to ensure we can continue to keep serving our customers.

With more than 100,000 employees across the country, we are taking this issue seriously and will continue to respond.

Kind Regards,

Andrew Gregory
